Mets over Yankees- The Yankees took the opener of this 2-game set at Citi Field as the Mets blew up with the umpires and on the field giving up a 4-run lead. The Yanks who usually are an all-or-nothing team from the plate and Tuesday all nine starters had hits and with two home runs. The aces of the staff for both clubs will start tonight with Gerrit Cole (7-1, 2.84 ERA) on the bump for the visitor and Justin Verlander (2-3, 4.85) on the hill for the Mets. Cole is 2-2 with a 6.75 in six career starts versus the Mets while Verlander is 9-7 with a 3.44 in 23 regular season starts against the Yankees. Mets are 5-2 in last five meetings at home. Take METS!
