The Rangers did not have a problem at the plate last season, ranking 12th in scoring average. They did struggle on the mound and are hoping Jason deGrom can add some stability to the pitching staff. He has owned the Phillies in his career, posting a 9-1 record in 20 starts. In his last five starts against the Phillies, he has allowed a total of six runs. The only question is how many innings will you get in his first start and is the Rangers pen any better than they were last season? Nola struggled on the road, and against the Al, he gave up 10 runs in his last three road starts. The Phillies are down a couple of bats with harper and Hoskins out. They still have plenty of offense but I don't see them scoring against deGrom. I will put some faith in the Rangers pen early on this season but not much and not for long. They are in a prove-it situation to start the season.
