Brentford is coming into this 1st match of the season after finiahing in 9th place last season and they were actually just 1 point under Tottenham in the table. They are going up against a Tottenham side that finished in 8th last season and has missed out on all European competition for this year. On the surface it seems like a very bad thing how Tottenham has missed out on European competition for this year but this is actually a blessing in disguise for them. Without having any European competitions to worry about, Tottenham will be able to focus on winning the Premier League title this season which means they will be fully focused on every league match they play as they will be well rested for most and not be overworked by a condensed schedule. They were a team that trended heavily to the over last season and that even continued in their offseason as they have gone over 2.5 goals in their last 7 straight as well as 12 of their last 13 matches. They have been scoring a lot of goals with their potent attack in their recent friendlies as they get ready for the season, scoring 12 goals in their last 3 matches alone, but their defense was an issue last season and still has been recently as they have allowed 6 goals in their last 3 matches as well. Brentford was a very good team last season especially when playing at home and they also had a very potent attack there that will find ways to score on this shaky Tottenham defense.
